Nick Reiner, the 32-year-old son of filmmaker Rob Reiner and producer Michele Singer Reiner, is now fighting a new battle outside the murder case already surrounding him.

While awaiting trial in connection with the December 2025 deaths of his parents, Nick has filed a probate petition seeking access to a $1.5 million trust fund that was reportedly set up by his parents.

He has pleaded not guilty to two counts of first-degree murder.

But the latest filing has added a new and bitter family twist.

Nick is accusing his siblings, Jake Reiner and Romy Reiner, of backing out of an alleged agreement to help fund his private legal defense.

According to the petition, high-profile attorney Alan Jackson — known for representing major celebrity clients — initially agreed to defend Nick after his arrest. But Jackson allegedly withdrew after learning that the expected funding from Nick’s siblings would not be provided.

In court filings, Jackson claims family members had verbally agreed to act as third-party payors for Nick’s defense and that he relied on those assurances before moving forward.

Nick’s current legal team now argues that access to the trust is necessary so he can rehire Jackson instead of continuing with a public defender.

The filing does not clearly state where the alleged defense money was supposed to come from, or whether Nick’s siblings had any control over his trust.

Now, a case already marked by tragedy has become even more complicated — with murder charges, family accusations, and a $1.5 million trust at the center of the fight.
