Seeing My Wife Kneel and Beg the Housekeeper While Handing Over 1,200 Dollars to “Buy Her Silence,” I Was Stunned by the Secret Behind It All
My wife and I had been married for less than a year. Just last month, she found out she was pregnant with our first child. Because her health wasn’t very good and I didn’t want her to exhaust herself with housework, I decided to hire a housekeeper.
Through a friend’s introduction, I was told about a woman named Linda, a housekeeper with many years of experience. My friend said Linda was capable, meticulous, and especially good with children. I believed that someone recommended by an acquaintance was more trustworthy than a stranger, so I hired her immediately. Linda agreed to start work that very same day.
When Linda first came to work at our house, my wife was still staying at her mother’s place and hadn’t returned yet. I simply texted her to let her know that I had found a housekeeper.
The next day, my wife came home. When she saw Linda, she greeted her briefly, somewhat awkwardly, without saying much else. I didn’t think too deeply about it. I assumed she approved, especially since Linda worked diligently, kept the house spotless, and handled everything efficiently.
On the third day, late that night, I suddenly woke up and realized my wife wasn’t beside me. I thought she might be in the kitchen getting water, so I went downstairs to check.
As I passed by the housekeeper’s room on the ground floor, I suddenly heard my wife’s muffled sobs.
I froze.
The door was slightly ajar. I looked through the narrow gap—and my mind went blank.
My wife was kneeling on the floor in front of Linda.
She looked desperate, her hands clasped together, tears streaming down her face as she begged over and over:
“Please, I’m begging you… help me keep this a secret. My husband and I are very happy now. We’re about to welcome our first child. That was all in the past. I regret it so much. Please… please don’t tell him.”
Linda stood there quietly for a moment, then slowly nodded.
“I won’t let him find out,” she said calmly.
I felt as if the ground had disappeared beneath my feet.
I quietly returned to my bedroom, pretending I hadn’t seen anything at all.
After that night, the atmosphere in the house became strange. My wife behaved normally, even more attentive and gentle than before. Linda continued working as usual.
But I couldn’t forget what I had seen.
A few days later, I directly asked Linda what my wife was hiding from me.
After some hesitation, Linda finally told me the truth: my wife had given her 1,200 USD to keep silent.
I looked at her and said flatly, “I’ll give you 2,400 USD—just tell me everything.”
She agreed without hesitation.
The secret my wife was trying to hide was this:
Before marrying me, she had once been the other woman, involved with a married man.
Linda had previously worked as a housekeeper for that man’s family. She had personally seen my wife and him coming home together, holding each other, acting intimately behind the wife’s back.
At that time, my wife was young and ambitious. She wanted to be favored and promoted by her boss, so she disregarded her dignity and self-respect and gave herself to him.
Later, she changed jobs and cut off the affair. The relationship ended, but the past could never truly be erased.
I stood there in shock, completely speechless.
Not long after, I dismissed Linda from her job.
And now, I am left alone with this truth—confused, broken, and uncertain.
How am I supposed to continue loving my wife as if I had never known any of this?
