Anderson’s employer, New York-headquartered risk management and insurance firm Marsh, told Newsweek the company was “devastated about Conor and heartbroken for his family and friends.”

“We ask that everyone respect the family’s privacy. We will do all we can to support them and his fellow colleagues through this tragedy,” a spokesperson said in a statement.

Anderson had flown into Nashville for a work conference on August 15 and checked into the Millenium Maxwell House hotel, police said in a statement on Wednesday.

He was last seen early on the morning of August 16, when he approached two police officers near Woodland and Main Street in East Nashville.

“Anderson said he’d given the men $20 to ‘show him around the area.’ The men reportedly walked off with his cash and Anderson wanted the officers to know.”

Body camera footage of that interaction showed one officer had questioned whether Anderson had been attempting to buy drugs. “On my life, there was no intention of any drug transaction,” Anderson replied.

Police said the officers had explained that in order to make a formal report they would need his driver’s license, but Anderson refused.

“They encouraged him to get a rideshare back to his hotel and he agreed,” police said.

Why Was Anderson in Nashville?

Anderson was a Denver-based client executive at Marsh, according to his LinkedIn profile.

In the last post on the page, Anderson wrote he was “excited to be at the REMAX Broker Owner Conference in Nashville and hope to connect with many of you there.”

The conference took place from August 16 to 18 at the Gaylord Opryland Resort and Convention Center in Nashville, according to the organizer’s website.

According to the LinkedIn page, Anderson attended Harborfields High school in Greenlawn, New York, before earning degrees in economics at the University of Maryland and the University of Colorado Boulder.

He had worked at Marsh since June 2025, after previously spending about a year working as an account manager for National Corporate Housing, according to the page.

From April 2019 to April 2023, he had worked at Presidio, an IT consulting company based in New York City.

Disappearance Was ‘Out of Character’

Anderson’s family had appealed for anyone with information about his disappearance to contact police.

“This disappearance is completely out of character for Conor,” the family said in a statement shared on Facebook by his uncle, Tom Anderson.

“Shortly before he disappeared, Conor flagged down police regarding an incident outside a bar in the area. After that interaction, he then walked into Up-Down Bar in Nashville, immediately nearby, and had a drink. Approximately five minutes later, Conor walked out. He has not been seen since,” it said.

“He never returned to his hotel. His phone has not pinged, his credit cards have not been used, and no one in our family has heard from him.”
