A poor student spent a night with her millionaire boss to pay her brother’s hospital bills, and that decision changed her life forever… Sofia Alvarez hadn’t slept for two days. Her younger brother, Julian, had been admitted to San Gabriel Medical Center after a motorcycle accident, and with each passing hour, the debt for emergency surgeries continued to grow.
The young woman, a business administration student and intern at Torres & Associates, had tried everything: student loans, salary advances, even selling the few valuables she owned. Nothing was enough.
The night before, in a desperate act, she mustered the courage to request a meeting with the company’s CEO, Alejandro Torres, a man known for his unwavering seriousness and obsession with perfection. She had never interacted with him beyond brief greetings in the elevator. But that night, Alejandro’s expression changed when he heard Sofia’s trembling voice explaining her situation.
Alejandro didn’t respond immediately. He walked to his office window, from where the bright lights of Manila were visible. Then, without looking at her, he said in an excessively cold tone:
“”I can help you. But I need something in return.””
The proposal was clear. Cruel. Humiliating.
Just one night.
A transaction Sofia never imagined she would accept.
But the image of Julian connected to tubes, the doctors pressuring her to make decisions, and the absolute lack of options broke her resistance. That night, Sofia set aside her dignity to save her brother.
The next morning, she woke up in the businessman’s private apartment. He was still asleep. On the table was an envelope: the hospital receipt and a short note, written in his impeccable handwriting:
“”You don’t owe me anything. Consider this matter closed.””
Sofia felt a mixture of relief, shame, and anger. She dressed in silence, left the note exactly where she found it, and left without looking back.
She thought that would be the end: a chapter buried in the darkest corner of her memory.
But it wasn’t.
Two weeks later, while preparing reports at the office, she received an email from Human Resources:
“Urgent meeting with the CEO. 10:00 a.m.”
Her heart began to pound so hard she could almost hear it. She feared he would bring up that night… or worse, demand more. She thought about quitting.
She thought about running away.
She thought about faking an illness.
She did none of those things.
At ten o’clock sharp, she walked into Alejandro’s office.
He looked at her with an expression she had never seen before: a mixture of doubt, tension, and… guilt?
“Sofia, I need to talk to you,” he said, locking the door behind her.
The real twist in the story had yet to begin.
