SAM HEUGHAN’S 11-YEAR OUTLANDER SECRET HAS FANS STUNNED
Outlander sensation Sam Heughan has candidly shared his unusual coping mechanism during the intense filming of the series, admitting he used to “hide” and “silently scream” in a secret disabled toilet for solace.
The Scottish heartthrob, who plays the dashing Jamie Fraser alongside Caitriona Balfe’s Claire Fraser, has become a global icon thanks to the show’s success.
At the recent New York Comic Con, Heughan joined fellow cast members to tease future developments and reminisce over their long-standing journey with the beloved Fraser family.
The revelation about his hidden retreat came to light when producer Maril Davis hinted at the possibility of opening the Outlander sets to fans post-series.

Heughan elicited chuckles from the audience as he divulged: “One of the key parts of it is this disabled toilet that became my secret place where I would go to,” adding, “Season one, if I needed a moment to hide and lock everyone away I would go there.”

Reflecting on the past 11 years, he mused, “And it’s so strange going there now after 11 years and just closing the door and taking a moment and silently screaming.”
He even invited fans to visit his former refuge, saying, “No one knows about it, but this was my secret place. You can all go do a tour there and visit the disabled toilet.”
Balfe appeared utterly perplexed by the confession, exclaiming: “I have so many questions!”

Meanwhile, Davis playfully chided Heughan, suggesting: “I feel like this is too much info.”
When Balfe questioned Heughan about the elusive toilet he mentioned on set, he intriguingly responded: “Do the tour and you’ll find out.”
Curious, she pressed on for details. “Did you bring anything in?” she enquired.
“Is there a TV mounted? A couple of newspapers, magazines?”
Heughan revealed with a hint of nostalgia, “There’s actually still bits of blood from season one in there,” quickly reassuring a grossed-out Balfe that “it’s fake blood! Fake”.

The early series undoubtedly saw Heughan’s character Jamie Fraser smeared with blood and dirt as the show’s narrative escalated to the infamous Battle of Culloden.
Subsequently, Jamie and Claire sought a more tranquil existence in North Carolina; however, the peace was short-lived. Their picturesque homestead evolved into a hive of tumult and intrigue, setting the stage for the impending American Revolution.
