Now, he’s shared several pictures from camp and appears to be in tremendous shape.

The Rock is drenched in sweat as he lifts a massive amount of weight to bulk up to portray an MMA fighter in his upcoming movie ‘The Smashing Machine’.

Johnson’s Instagram upload quickly racked up over 1.2 million likes and countless comments from fans impressed by his commitment to staying in shape at 51 years old.

He captioned the post: “Training very hard. Thank you to all of you who continues to join me on this long windy road and journey, together. Building new mountain. #trainingcamp #smashingmachine #wm40.”

Mark Kerr is the man The Rock will play in his next movie.

Kerr earned ‘The Smashing Machine’ nickname while competing during the UFC’s early days when fighters were required to fight two times in one night.

Kerr famously scored four first-round stoppage wins – with his longest fight lasting just 133 seconds – at UFC 14 and UFC 15 in 1997.

Kerr, now 55, struggled with an addiction to painkillers and has openly talked about how it impacted his career since retiring from MMA.

The two-time UFC champion was the subject of a 2002 HBO documentary called The Smashing Machine: The Life and Times of Extreme Fighter Mark Kerr.

Kerr has since turned his life around, but The Rock’s film will focus on his struggle with addiction, winning, love and friendship in the year 2000.

The Smashing Machine, directed by Benny Safdie and starring English actress Emily Blunt, will begin filming later this year.

UFC fans will be able to watch The Rock’s new film in 2025.

First, he’ll have to go through an intense training camp that expands way beyond lifting weights to learning the various martial arts that made Kerr a champion.

It is unclear if The Rock will share behind-the-scenes footage of that process.
