“Quite Suspicious”: NYSAC Head’s Decision to Retire Amid Ryan Garcia Doping Case Stirs Controversy

Ryan Garcia is facing the biggest challenge of his boxing career after testing positive for a performance enhancing substance Ostarine before and on the day of his fight against Devin Haney. Meanwhile, a subsequent report from VADA has revealed the absence of 19-Norandrosterone, for which Garcia had initially tested positive.

Also, the Victorville native requested testing of his B-Sample on Monday. However, amid all this chaos, as Garcia’s fate hung in the balance, NYSAC head Kim Sumbler resigned from her post for family reasons, claiming it was a longtime in the making. NYSAC was supposed to analyze VADA’s findings for Garcia’s B-Sample to decide whether ‘King Ry’ would be suspended and fined or given a clean chit.

Who will assume Kim Sumbler’s role?

According to a report from Boxing Scene, Sumbler’s shoes will be filled by acting executive director Matthew Delaglio. He is expected to take over all the responsibilities in a short time, as told in the report. Talking about her surprise exit from the organization, Sumbler said, “I appreciate all the support I received over the years from the combat sports community.”

“This is a very difficult job that many don’t understand. My love for combat sports will make sure that it is always a part of my life, but I’m ready and excited for a different direction in my life for the time being,” she continued. In the meantime, seeing this unfold, Garcia quickly hopped on X to share what he thought was the unraveling of some kind of master plan from his enemies.

In a tweet yesterday, ‘The Flash’ Garcia, who is awaiting the results of his B-Sample on May 22, said, “A billionth of gram found in my system bruh you can’t make this up. NYSAC RESIGNS Everyone backtracking now STOP MESSING WITH ME DEFAMATION LAWSUITS all you fake a** reporters like Dan Rafael And everyone else who tried to claim I cheated S*CK A HUGE ONE TO THE POINT YOU EXPLODE.”

As the entire ordeal came to light, even the boxing world couldn’t deny the stench of suspicion radiating from the situation. So, when a user shared the story on X, fans were quick with their thoughts on the matter.

Fan accuses Sumbler of trying to set up Ryan Garcia

Despite what critics said, Garcia’s loyal fan base had supported him dearly, so with this new revelation, fans came out of the woodworks to highlight the co-incidence. One user pointed out that Sumbler has been wanting to quit for a while. But it took her eight years to do it, which is quite odd and suspicious. However, according to Sumbler, she has been after this decision for the past few months.

Even the next user echoed the same feeling, asserting that there’s some sort of mischief at play with Sumbler’s resignation. Nevertheless, there’s no proof of Sumbler’s involvement with Garcia’s tests.

Meanwhile, this sharp-eyed user underscored Haney’s appearance on ESPN right after Garcia’s test results went public. Haney had claimed he doesn’t want a rematch but wants his zero restored while bashing Garcia for cheating.

Someone else wasn’t buying Sumbler’s reasoning to quit while suggesting she was mixed up with the Haney family from the start. However, it’s worth noting that there’s evidence to support this user’s claim.

Another user has alleged that due to Sumbler’s failed attempt to implicate Garcia, she is running and hiding from the consequences.

While Ryan Garcia awaits his fate on May 22, Kim Sumbler seems to have cleaned up her desk at the office. However, whether these two things are related is unknown as of right now. Yet fans seem convinced they are, evident from the comment. What do you think?
