Sophia Urista’s act of urinating in the face of a male fan right on stage caused a “wave” of outrage in the online community.
New York Post reported that last Thursday night (November 11), the band Brass Against participated in a show at the Welcome to Rockville 2021 music festival in Daytona, Florida, USA.
While covering the song “Wake Up” by rock group Rage Against the Machine, female lead singer Sophia Urista suddenly told the crowd that she needed to “resolve her sadness” but couldn’t go to the bathroom.
The rising rock star then invited a male fan onto the stage, instructing him to lie down before pulling down his pants and “exposing” on his face.
Sophia Urista invited the male fan to the stage and asked him to lie down.
She shocked the audience by urinating in the face of a male fan.
This action not only shocked those present at the event, but also caused a “wave” of outrage in the online community when the video recording the incident spread. The 36-year-old female singer had to endure countless harsh criticisms such as: “It’s disgusting! I think both of them have mental problems”, “This behavior is too crazy”, “Is this considered sexual harassment and will be criminally prosecuted?”, “Trash”…
In response to the backlash, Brass Against posted an apology on Twitter: “We had a great time at Welcome to Rockville. Sophia got carried away and couldn’t control herself. It’s not what the rest of the band expected, nor is it what you’ll see again at our shows. Thank you for bringing a wonderful night.”
Besides, when asked who cleaned up the “aftermath”, Brass Against replied: “Sophia cleaned up after we left the stage.”
Brass Against has apologized for the lead singer’s uncontrolled behavior.
However, the matter does not stop at just an apology. Daytona Beach Police spokesman Messod Bendayan said he received complaints from residents via Facebook messages and is investigating the incident.
The Daytona Beach News -Journal pointed out that committing indecent acts such as exposing genitals in public can be punished with a year in prison or $1,000.
